EXCLUSIVE SERIES OF STEREOVIEWS
“OUR BIRDS IN THE WILD” series A
This is a 12 view set of glossy and detailed stereoviews, photographed by Adolphe Burdet.
Burdet (1868-1943) was Swiss by birth and lived in the Netherlands. His words are: “I’m actually not a photographer, but I’m very interested in practicing photography and cinematography as an assist to the study of biology.”
We have two sets of great original stereoviews. The one presented here has an envelope saying (in Dutch) “Singing birds – series A”. There’s also a booklet in which every photo is described in four languages.
There are photographs of the Crossbill, Finch, Bullfinch, Greenfinch, Linnet, Sparrow, Tree Sparrow, and the Reed Bunting.
Below we give you three examples of this series. If you want more, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will gladly send you any scan you like.
View A12: Young REED-BUNTINGS in their nest.
Descriptive booklet says: “The food of these birds consists chiefly of insects, larvae, small mollusks and, in winter of various species of grain.”
View A2: FINGS feeding its young.
Descriptive booklet says: “The nest of the finch is usually built against the trunk of a tree at the fork of a branch. It is covered outside with lichens which give it the appearance of an excrescence of the trunk. The interior is delicately padded with wool and fine feathers.”
View A9: Nest of TREE SPARROW in a nesting box.
Descriptive booklet says: “It is amazing to see the quantity of material, feathers especially, which has been accumulated to build this nest, which is made without any artistic pretensions whatsoever.”
